Dear Readers,

Welcome to the first issue of 2010. We start the year with six columns including two Guest Columns. I am sure that I speak for our readers in thanking our regular columnists for their steadfast work.

As usual we have five feature-length papers in this issue. Three of these papers focus on Aspect-Oriented Programming. In addition, the subjects of building .NET framework support for Design by Contract and formal specifications round out the papers.

As I have done for years in the first issue of the year, I make an appeal to our readers to send papers for review. We continue to publish accepted papers in a reasonably timely manner. The current time-delay from acceptance to publication is about 10 months.
