Dear Readers,

I have recently scanned recent issues of JOT while searching for a particular paper. In the process of scanning I was taken with the diversity of topics that have been presented over the years by our columnists and our feature papers. I was also taken with the quality of these manuscripts (that is of course something that only you, our readers can judge). As we reach the end of another publication year it is a satisfying feeling to look back on our previous year and the years before that.

This issue is no exception. We have a Guest Column from Leslie Keedy, Gisela Menger and Christian Heinlein to be followed by a sequel Guest Column in our January/February issue. Our regular columnists Douglas Lyon, John McGregor and Mahesh Dodani have come through again with interesting columns.

I believe that the five feature-length papers in this issue live up to the tradition of quality and diversity that I mentioned above. I hope you find this last 2009 issue of JOT useful and interesting.
