Dear Readers,

 

Happy New Year!

Our first issue of 2009 contains an unusually large number of special features. In addition to our regular columns (columns written by Douglas Lyon, Mahesh Dodani, John McGregor, Won Kim and Lakshmi Prayaga) we have a guest column and another Educator's Corner column. We also have included what has become a tradition at JOT: a summary by Charles Ashbacher of the "best books of 2008" - in his opinion of course). He also has contributed another book review.

Three of the four feature-length papers deal with advanced aspects of UML. The fourth with the Objective-C language runtime.

We look forward to publishing informative and interesting papers and special features this new year and welcome your submissions.
