Guest Editorial

Dear Readers,

This JOT special issue is devoted to aspect-oriented modeling. The topic is quite intriguing and stimulating since it merges the experiences coming from two communities: aspect-oriented software development and model-driven engineering.

The interest around aspect-oriented modeling is fast growing as proven by the plethora of related events and tools that have been organized and presented in recent years.

As the guest editors of this special issue, we have offered eleven workshops on the topic and we are excited to present this special issue of some of the best papers on the topic from the last year.

The aspect-oriented modeling workshops occur twice a year as satellite events of the AOSD and MoDELS conferences. These workshops always have received strong submissions and the active participation among members in the community. More details are available at: http://www.aspect-modeling.org.

This special issue collects the very best of the last two workshops at MoDELS'06 and AOSD'07. The papers contained in this special issue have been selected from the best papers accepted by the workshops. The selected papers were extended and reviewed by an international program committee.

We hope that you enjoy our efforts.

Walter Cazzola, Jeff Gray, Dominik Stein,

Jörg Kienzle, Tzilla Elrad, and Omar Aldawud.
